A murder mystery party is an interactive party where you and your guests get to play characters in a murder mystery storyline such as a suspect or a witness. The party is hosted by a single person. They provide guests with character descriptions, costume recommendations, and secret objectives ahead of time, leading the party. After players meet each other, a scripted murder occurs. Players then piece together the clues in order to determine which player is the murderer. Players vote for the player they suspect at the game’s end. The Host unveils the identity of the murderer, awards the best detective, and announces the best performer for good measure as well.

The Cabin in the Pines is a murder mystery thriller that takes place in a luxury cabin as a severe storm occurs. The story follows wealthy tech entrepreneur Alex Mercer, who has a reputation for not promising things that he keeps. Mercer invites several former friends and business associates onto his property for a weekend getaway. Those involved exist among one jilted business partner, one desperate artist, and one childhood friend who acts as protector. Another guest, The Hiker, seeks shelter from the storm and knocks on the door as dinner begins. Alex proposes a toast, but falls dead after drinking a glass of poisoned wine out of a bottle. The group must figure out which one of them is the killer before police can arrive to the cabin. The phone lines are down. The surrounding roads are flooded.
